The Preamble to the Constitution of UNESCO declares that ‘since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed’.

NO NATION LEFT BEHIND

Worthy Nation Award for Education Created

Friday December 14, 2007

launched the creation of the Worthy Nation Foundation. The Foundation is committed to making technology available in all classrooms and learning centres in all countries - ONE NATION AT A TIME. For this, an award honoring countries for excellence in education, the Worthy Nation Excellence in Education (EIE) Award for Education (EIEA), has been created.

Super Teaching is the premier technology which will drive improvement in learning in ST-equipped classrooms around the world and is the featured technology at the 2009 fund-raising gala for Worthy Nation Foundation to be held in Las Vegas (See EIE Awards Gala). Other technologies with the capability to improve skillsets among students will be featured in other years.

The Worthy Nation EIE Awards for Education will be given at Worthy Nation Galas annually/biennially, whereby 5-10 or more countries will be selected to receive the WNAE- Worthy Nation EIE Award for Education.

Criteria for selecting countries/educational establishments will include:
  1. Countries showing progress in education and fully committed to achieving the Millennium Development Goals,

  2. Countries interested in seriously addressing educational challenges ( e.g.high drop-out rates, lack of relevance of educational content/curriculum, lack of motivation of teachers and students...)

  3. Countries willing to address the problems/challenges faced by youth and exhibit a willingness to introduce relevant, entrepreneurial curricula

  4. Countries approved to accept coaching that will be provided by the Super Teaching International Dream Team.

The University of Alabama has access to world class technology in the field of education, SuperTeaching, that has been tried and tested for over 20 years in the United States of America and has shown that it affects the quality of learning and retention among students/pupils exposed to SuperTeaching (ST). SuperTeaching has won congressional approval for public education in the United States.

The ST system surrounds each teacher with a living “theater of education” while the instructor delivers the existing lesson plan paying no attention to the class room upgrade. A multiple of images are shown on the screen, including images of the students themselves, the teacher, the content, nature scenes to relax the mind and record data more deeply, using any media from power point to distant learning.

A teacher requires only ONE HOUR to master using the system due to the level of automation. The learners enjoy the teaching more, pay more attention, and retain more information making Super Teaching a break through in modernizing class room design.

ST software automates interface in all cultures countries and global village applications by faculty push of a button. Super Teaching is curriculum and language neutral representing the first standard Global Village classroom platform. Read more here..

UNESCO Report - Enhancing Learning, 2007 -how to enhance learning and critically examine which are the internal and external factors infl uencing the learning process.

According to some thirty experts from around the world including researchers, educators, educational planners, representatives of United Nations Agencies and selected overnment officials, schools in many parts of the world are not responding adequately to the needs of their students.

Despite being in school, the report says, a large majority of learners do not acquire even minimal levels of learning and come out of school unprepared to integrate with the rapidly changing world. Factors such as poverty and malnutrition negatively affect the psychosocial and cognitive development of the child. In addition, classes continue to be too large, there is a constant lack of educational materials, teachers are not appropriately trained, curricula are not well adapted to the different multicultural contexts, schools are poorly supervised, and many children are still relegated to environments that discourage learning.

All of these factors together have resulted in a negative impact on student performance and learning achievement levels. This meeting was the fi rst step of a series of regional meetings that are being organized with the objective of identifying country priority needs and lessons learned from effective practices, and to discuss directions, orientations and policy guidelines to enhance learning and learning outcomes from early childhood through secondary education.
